Privacy Policy

Desktop libraries remain in the local folder you choose. When you use the Web App or browser extension, content is stored in Cloudflare D1, R2, and search indexes tied to your account and workspace.
What this policy covers
This Privacy Policy explains how Clipii handles information when you use the Clipii website, desktop app, and browser extension.
Desktop is a local product. The Web App and browser extension are cloud products. Cloud data is isolated by user and workspace and does not automatically sync with local libraries.
What is stored locally and in the cloud
Desktop libraries remain at the local path you choose. If that path is synchronized by another provider, its terms govern that synchronization.
For the Web App, D1 stores accounts, workspaces, collections, tags, items, highlights, and task state. Private R2 stores text, web archives, images, PDFs, and transcripts, which are also indexed for search.
Media processing may extract temporary audio on a server to produce a transcript. Temporary files are removed after the task, and original video or audio is never written to cloud object storage.
Information we may collect
We may collect account details such as your email address and basic profile information if you sign in on the website.
When you use a cloud library, we process submitted URLs, notes, browser snapshots, highlights, organization information, and content or status produced by crawling, recognition, transcription, and search.
If you make a purchase, we may receive payment and subscription status information needed to confirm your plan and manage billing, but we do not store full payment card details ourselves.
If you contact us, we may keep the information you share in your message so we can reply and provide support.
We also process basic technical data needed to operate the website securely, such as session information and routine request metadata.
How we use information
We use this information to provide cloud libraries, authorize access, process URL content, build search indexes, synchronize browser captures, process purchases, respond to support, and protect the service.
We do not use your private library as an advertising feed, and we do not sell personal information to data brokers.
When we share information
We provide necessary data to service providers that operate the product, including Cloudflare compute, D1, R2, and search services, and Polar payment and subscription services. Full card details are handled by the payment provider.
We may also share information when required by law, to enforce our terms, or to protect users, the product, or the public from harm.
Cookies and sessions
The website may use cookies or similar session mechanisms to keep you signed in, maintain account state, and support core website functionality.
We do not describe the product as depending on invasive tracking to work. If that changes later, this page should be updated before rollout.
Data retention
We keep website account, billing, and support data for as long as needed to provide the service, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and maintain basic business records.
After cloud access ends, a workspace remains read-only for 90 days so you can view, search, export, delete, or renew. Business content is then deleted, leaving only minimal legal and billing records. A workspace you delete can be restored for 30 days before permanent cleanup.
Trash items are retained for 30 days by default. You continue to control deletion of Desktop files locally.
Your choices
You can use local Desktop without the cloud or create a cloud workspace. Cloud data can be exported in a versioned migration package, and browser device tokens can be revoked.
You can contact us if you want help with account access, billing questions, or privacy-related requests.
